    It's written in an oddly opaque style. For example, it starts Template:Tq is only for quoting in talk and project pages. Do not use it in actual articles. Does this mean Moxy Hotels is a hotel chain founded by Marriott International in 2014, in partnership with IKEA. It has 135 hotels as of 2026? If so, then that, or something similar, is what it should say. If not, then what exactly does it mean? Moxy Hotels is a limited-service hotel brand founded by Marriott International in 2014, in partnership with IKEA. The hotel chain currently has 181 properties as of 2026.

History

Moxy Hotels was announced by Marriott International in 2013, in partnership with Swedish furniture company, IKEA.[1] The first location opened in Milan, Italy near Milan Malpensa Airport on September 1, 2014. The chain mainly targeted price-sensitive millenial travelers.[2]

In 2019, Moxy Hotels expands to the United States, with two new locations in New Orleans, Louisiana and Tempe, Arizona.[3]

In 2024, Moxy celebrated their 10th anniversary, and to commemorate the milestone, they increased their presence the Asia-Pacific since 2017.[4]

In 2025, Moxy Hotels lauched their 100th property in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa with the introduction of Moxy Belfast City.[5] Later in 2026, Moxy increased their presence in the Middle East and Africa.[6]

In 2025, Marriott International has also announced that Hotel Equities would operate a dual-branded property in Vancouver, set to open in summer 2028. Half of the property would be the Moxy Vancouver Downtown, which would be part of Moxy, while the other half would be Element Vancouver Downtown, which would be part of Element, another limited service Marriott brand.[7]
