Tapestry Collection by Hilton is an upscale soft brand hotel brand within the Hilton Worldwide portfolio.[1]

Overview

Tapestry Collection by Hilton is a soft brand, meaning its hotels retain their own individual identity and character while benefiting from Hilton's global reservation infrastructure and loyalty programme, Hilton Honors.[1]

Launched in January 2017 as Hilton’s 14th brand, this became the second entry in the company’s 'collection' portfolio, sitting just below the more upscale Curio Collection, which first established the category in 2014.[2] The first Tapestry Collection property, Hotel Skyler Syracuse in upstate New York, opened in May 2017, four months after the brand's announcement.[3] The hotel is housed in a former temple built in 1922 in the city's University Hill district, and is one of five hotels in the United States to have received Platinum-level certification under LEED standards.[4]

The brand was created to address demand in the upscale independent hotel segment that Hilton's existing brands did not fully serve. According to Jenna Hackett, then Global Brand Head for the Tapestry Collection, the brand was developed after owners of properties that did not quite fit the Curio Collection's higher-end criteria approached Hilton, identifying what she described as "a white space" in the upscale independent market.[3] Most Tapestry Collection hotels operate under a franchise model, allowing independent hotel owners to retain control over their operations and individual identity while accessing Hilton's distribution network and Hilton Honors loyalty programme.[5]

Tapestry Collection properties use Hilton's computer reservations system and are part of Hilton Honors, Hilton's guest-loyalty program.[1] The brand is classified as upper upscale in the Hilton brand portfolio and is comparable to Marriott International's Tribute Portfolio and IHG's Hotel Indigo.[5][2]

By the end of 2024, Tapestry Collection had reached its 150th hotel opening across 20 countries and territories, including first-in-country debuts in Australia, Bonaire, Paraguay, Thailand, and the United Arab Emirates.[6] This represented a 50% expansion in just two years, growing from 100 hotels in January 2023 to 150 by January 2025.[6] As of early 2026, the brand's portfolio comprises more than 190 hotels worldwide.[7] Together with Curio Collection by Hilton, Tapestry Collection is expected to surpass 200 combined openings worldwide by 2026.[8]

Notable properties

The first Tapestry Collection hotel, Hotel Skyler Syracuse, opened in May 2017 inside a former synagogue built in 1922, and holds LEED Platinum certification — one of five hotels in the United States to achieve that standard at the time of opening.[4]

Hotel Marcel New Haven, which joined the collection in 2022, was reported to be the first net-zero carbon hotel in the United States.[9]

Hotel Resonance Taipei was the brand's first hotel in the Asia-Pacific region when it opened in 2019. The 14-storey, 175-room building was designed by award-winning Taiwanese architect Kris Yao, whose façade resembles the frames of a film roll.[10]

The Mermoon Resort Hainan Tufu Bay, which opened in June 2023, features a lobby installation of more than 60,000 mother-of-pearl beads and is themed entirely around a local fishing legend involving a fisherman and a mermaid.[11]

The Green Leaf Niseko Village, which opened in January 2026 as the brand's debut in Japan, is a winter-season-only ski resort at the foot of Mount Niseko Annupuri in Hokkaido. The hotel displays 200 works by painter Soichiro Tomioka, who is known for his self-developed pigment "Tomioka White."[12]

The Marcus Portrush, which opened in Northern Ireland in spring 2025 as the brand's first property in Northern Ireland, is a restoration of a Victorian building that operated as a hotel and artisan bakery for more than 85 years, preserving its original mosaic signage.[6]
