Mucho Stylez.[1] (born Colmar von der Goltz) is a DJ and producer born in Davos (December 7, 1977), Switzerland, who grew up in Munich, Germany with several underground club hits, such as "deeptrix" and "bigsol".[2]
Early life[edit]
Colmar von der Goltz was born in Davos, Switzerland and was raised in Munich, Germany. He first started creating music with an Amiga 500 in 1992. Age 16, he began DJing as Mucho Stylez and producing on an Atari ST that had a black and white screen and only 20MB of HardDrive.
Career[edit]
His upbringing in Munich exposed him to notable figures in the city’s underground dance music scene including DJ Hell, Monika Kruse, DJ Tomcraft and Tom Novy. Together, they would frequently perform at illegal raves held in the disused Munich Riem airport. In 1999, Mucho Stylez started releasing techno and house music singles through Eric Powell’s UK based record label Bush Records. The label had previously published the series ‘RED’ by Techno Baron Dave Clark and was considered one of the most prominent UK labels in underground music. At the turn of the millennium, Mucho he relocated to New York and released ‘Kings of Spin’ through John Benitez’s label Jellybean Soul.[3] Whilst in New York, he held residencies at nightclubs Guernica (formerly known as ‘Save the Robots’) and Obecca Li.
In 2004, Mucho Stylez relocated to Zurich, where he currently resides. He releases work through the label BluFin records based in Cologne (Germany), Moody Recordings (USA), SubSociety (USA), Minituaresc (Italy) [4]. His release "Raspy Tongs" earned highest review ratings with the [5] community. His production "Bigsol" earned him remixes by renowned artists Robert Babicz and DJ Tomcraft [6]. In his home town Zurich, Mucho is resident DJ at Switzerland's biggest reoccurring event "Sanapa", he tours on regular occasion internationally [7]
