Muhammad Ahsan Bhoon is a Pakistani lawyer, an advocate of the Supreme Court of Pakistan and a leader of the country's bar associations. He served as president of the Supreme Court Bar Association for 2021–22, and as vice chairman of the Pakistan Bar Council. He heads the Independent Group, better known as the Asma Jahangir Group, which has won several elections of the Supreme Court Bar Association.
Legal career
According to his professional summary, Bhoon was enrolled as an advocate of the lower courts on 19 September 1989, of the High Court on 22 February 1992 and of the Supreme Court of Pakistan on 19 July 2003. His areas of practice are criminal, constitutional and civil law.

Supreme Court Bar Association
In October 2021 Bhoon, the candidate of the Asma Jahangir Group, won the presidency of the Supreme Court Bar Association for 2021–22 with 1,548 votes against 920 for Sardar Latif Khan Khosa of the Hamid Khan-led Professional Group.[4] In later elections he has been described as the head of the group that kept winning the association's top posts.[5]
Judicial service
He served as a judge of the Lahore High Court from 9 February 2008 until 31 July 2009, according to his professional summary. On that date the Supreme Court's judgment in the PCO Judges case declared unconstitutional the measures taken under the 2007 emergency, and Bhoon was among the Lahore High Court judges named as ceasing to hold office as a result.[6][7]
Degree verification dispute
In September 2026 former MNA and PML-N leader Muhammad Safdar alleged that Bhoon's law degree could be fake and asked the Judicial Commission of Pakistan to inquire into it, as part of a wider campaign against the lawyers' group close to the government.[8][9] The University of the Punjab had verified his degrees in 2021 and again in January 2026,[10] and on 8 October 2026 the Pakistan Bar Council declared the degrees of its elected members, including Bhoon, to be genuine, saying they had been verified with the universities before its 2020 and 2025 elections.[1] On 13 October 2026 the Judicial Commission, on which Bhoon sits, reportedly disposed of Safdar's complaint, taking these verifications into account.[11] Bhoon denied the allegation and served Safdar with a defamation notice seeking Rs 5 billion in damages.[9][12]
