Muhammad Arif Butt (Urdu: محمد عارف بٹ‎) is a Pakistani chemical engineer and the former vice-chancellor of the University of the Punjab (Sep 2007 - Jan 2008) in Lahore, Pakistan.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8] He is a Professor Emeritus and has been the dean of the faculty of Engineering and Technology and also the director of the Institute Chemical Engineering and Technology at the University of the Punjab.[9][10][11][12] He is a current member and the former president (2008-2010) of Pakistan Institute of Chemical Engineers (PIChE).[13][14]

Education[edit]

Butt did his B.Sc. and M.Sc. in chemical engineering from University of the Punjab and later received his Ph.D in chemical engineering from Nagoya University in Nagoya, Japan.[15] His thesis was entitled "Gas absorption with complex chemical reaction".[16]
