Mujeeb Patla
Abdul Mujeeb, known by his pen name Mujeeb Patla, is an Indian cartoonist and an author.[1] (education and career guidance) based in Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates). He has won many state and national recognitions for his cartooning and caricaturing artworks.[2]
His cartoon themes are mostly based on political and social themes. Many of his works were published in Malayalam, Kannada and English language newspapers and magazines. He had conducted live caricature shows in north Kerala and south Canara.[3][4]
Birth and Childhood
Mujeeb Patla was born to Muhammed Shafi Abdullah and Jameela on 3 July 1984 at Patla, Kasaragod, Kerala, India. His schooling up to tenth standard was in Government High School Patla and higher secondary education in HHSIBHSS Edneer, Kasaragod. He has done graduation in Mechanical Engineering from LBS College of Engineering, Kerala[2].
Recognitions and Achievements
Mujeeb Patla has secured many achievements as a cartoonist and also as a caricaturist.
Few of the recognitions he received are listed as below:
- State (Kerala) prize for cartooning at school level (1999, 2000) by Kerala Cartoon Academy.
- State (Kerala) prize for caricaturing at school level (1998, 2000) by Kerala Cartoon Academy.
- State (Kerala) prize for caricaturing in general category (2006) by Kerala Cartoon Academy.
- Best budding cartoonist of the year 2008 - MKMA Award by Indian Institute of Cartoonists (IIC) (2009).
- Secured prize in Manorama Onam Cartoon Competition conducted by Malayala Manorama (2012)[5].
- His cartoon based on the theme 'Global Warming' Selected for 17th INTERNATIONAL HUMOR HALL 2021 cartoon exhibition which will be held in Brazil[6]
