In 2006, Casting Director Mukesh Chhabra ventured into Mumbai, initially working as an Assistant Casting Director before establishing his own casting company. His independent journey began with the small-budget film "Chintuji." Subsequently, Chhabra played a pivotal role in casting for diverse films such as "Kai Po Che," "Gangs Of Wasseypur," "Shahid," "Love Aaj Kal," "Masaan," "Sanju," "Bajrangi Bhaijaan," "Super30," "Kabir Singh," and many others. Beyond films, he extended his casting expertise to web series like "Delhi Crime," "Sacred Games," "Family Man," "Asur," "She," and numerous TV commercials.
Chhabra's unconventional casting methods, including the discovery of talent like Irfan Khan on the streets of Mumbai for "Chillar Party," reflect his democratic approach to auditions, providing opportunities for aspiring actors. Notably, his insistence led to actor Rajkumar Rao's breakthrough in "Kai Po Che," subsequently earning him acclaim in "Shahid." Apart from his roles as a casting director and director, Mukesh Chhabra has been a teacher and actor with the Theatre in Education Company (TIE) of the National School of Drama (NSD) for six years, contributing to acting training in Hindi films.
