Munakata clan

The Munakata clan are a Japanese clan that runs Munakata Taisha[1]. They had advanced nautical skills.[2]

The clan were originally Kuni no miyatsuko but after the abolition of the role they took on a priestly role at Izumo-taisha, they share this history with the Aso clan [ja] of Aso Shrine, the Owari clan [ja] of Atsuta Shrine, the Izumo clan of Izumo-taisha,[1] and the Yamato clan [ja; simple] of Ōyamato Shrine.
