Museo de Aloe de Lanzarote, the Aloe Museum of Lanzarote, is a museum situated in the village of Arrieta, in the north of the island of Lanzarote, Canary Islands. The museum is the only centre for the interpretation of Aloe vera that exists in the Canary Islands.
The museum is 150 square meters in size and is decorated with volcanic rock. Inside the museum, display panels on the walls recount the history and culture surrounding Aloe vera, and the production system used for growing and harvesting the aloe plant. The panels also show different types of uses for the plant including therapeutic applications for the skin, cardiovascular system, respiratory system, and bone.
On 25 February 2011, this Centre of Interpretation was unanimously declared by the members of the Plenary of the Inter-Island Council of Lanzarote (Cabildo of Lanzarote), to be an establishment of tourist and cultural interest, and will be included in the catalogue of places of tourist and cultural interest of exceptional value.
The Tourist Board of Lanzarote, in a report issued on 3 December 2010, indicated that the companyAloe Plus Lanzarote SL, has made a contribution to the island’s tourist attractions, enhancing its singularity and attractiveness.
