MyDNS

MyDNS is an Open-Source DNS server for Unix systems. The resource records are kept in a MySQL or PostgreSQL database. When changing the resource records, there is no zone file that would have to be reloaded. Thus, the server is suitable, for example, for dynamic DNS. Since version 1.1.0 of 18 January 2006, MyDNS also offers the possibility to answer recursive requests. If a domain is queried for which the MyDNS server has no information, the request is forwarded to a configurable DNS server, which can then resolve the request.

Optionally, MyDNS supports round robin, load balancing, and outgoing zone transfer via AXFR to other name server software.

A fork was launched under the name MyDNS-NG, which additionally supports incremental zone transfer via IXFR and was further developed until 2013.

Both DNS servers do not support polling over IPv6.
