MyDNS

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

MyDNS is an Open-Source DNS server for Unix systems. The resource records are kept in a MySQL or PostgreSQL database. When changing the resource records, there is no zone file that would have to be reloaded. Thus the server is suitable for example for dynamic DNS . Since version 1.1.0 of 18 January 2006, MyDNS also offers the possibility to answer recursive requests. If a domain is queried for which the MyDNS server has no information, the request is forwarded to a configurable other DNS server, which can then resolve the request.

Optionally, MyDNS supports round robin, load balancing and outgoing zone transfer via AXFR to other name server software.

A fork was launched under the name MyDNS-NG, which additionally supports incremental zone transfer via IXFR and was further developed until 2013.

Both DNS servers do not support polling over IPv6.
