My Hero Academia The Movie: World Heroes Mission is an upcoming 2021 Japanese anime superhero film, and the third film based on the manga My Hero Academia by Kōhei Horikoshi. The film is being directed by Kenji Nagasaki, produced by Bones, and will be released in Japan on August 6, 2021. The events of the film take place after the fifth anime TV season. When the third film was announced, Horikoshi stated, "They're going to do a third movie…! When the second movie was announced, I made a comment that there would be no more movies, but there were."
Plot[edit]
A mysterious group called 'Humarize' strongly believes in the 'Quirk Singularity Doomsday Theory', which states that as quirks get mixed further in with future generations, the power will bring an end to humanity. They believe that quirks are a disease that must be cleansed.
They have planted 'Ideo Trigger Bomb' all across the world in various countries, which makes a user's quirk go ballistic and cause mass destruction. In order to save everyone, pro heroes ask U.A High School's heroes-in-training to assist them and form a world-class selected hero team. Their mission is to stop the remaining bombs. Izuku Midoriya, Katsuki Bakugo and Shoto Todoroki, who are training by Shoto's father, Endeavor's agency, being called to go on a mission to a faraway nation named Oseon.
As the operation progresses, Izuku finds himself in trouble when he is named one of the world's most wanted criminals due to his alleged involvement in the United States. Amid the chaos, Humarize declares to the world that they are behind the recent incident and gives the world two hours before things go out of hand. Now, it is up to the heroes to save the world as well as secure the future of heroes. Can they tackle this deadly group and contain this crisis?
Production[edit]
On November 29, 2020, it was announced that a third animated film for My Hero Academia was in production, and is scheduled for release in third quarter of 2021.[1] The staff and cast from the previous two movies are returning to reprise their roles.[1] In the first episode of the fifth season of the series, the movie was revealed to be titled My Hero Academia The Movie: World Heroes' Mission.[1]
