The fifth incarnation of American toy company Hasbro's My Little Pony toyline and media franchise began in 2020. The revamped line of dolls was targeted to a younger audience than the previous lines. This particular era is often unofficially referred to as "Generation Five" or "G5" by collectors.[1] According to the Russian Licensing Summit Online, there will be a 44 minute special of what would become My Little Pony: Friendship Is Forever in Spring 2022, and G5 will have an animated television series premiering in Fall 2022, and is apparently already renewed for a second season slated to air Fall 2023.

"Generation Five" is set in the fictional town of Ponyville. The number of characters was reduced to six: Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash, Twilight Sparkle, Rarity, Applejack, and Fluttershy; thus collectors referring the revamp as "The Mane Six". In 2018, it was revealed that series creator Lauren Faust was working on a reboot of the series of what would become My Little Pony: Pony Life. In the same year, Hasbro officially revealed the new designs for Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash, Twilight Sparkle, Rarity, Applejack, and Fluttershy on their website. Also, the Equestria Girls is also revealed. An upcoming movie will be released on Netflix in September 24, 2021 by Paramount Pictures.[2]
