My Year of Dicks is a 2022 American animated short film directed by Sara Gunnarsdóttir and written by Pamela Ribon[1]. The film is a provocative and hilarious work of animation thirty years in the making, and was based on Pamela Ribon's comedic memoir Notes to Boys: And Other Things I Shouldn't Share in Public (2017)[2]. The story follows teenage Pamela on her first sexual encounters and relationships in the early 1990s. The short received numerous accolades from international film festivals, including the Annecy Festival,[3] SXSW Film Festival[4] and the Brooklyn Film Festival[5] and is now qualified for the 95th Academy Awards under the category Best Animated Short Film[6].
Plot
Pam, a stubborn 15-year-old from the outskirts of Houston, embarks on a journey of self-discovery as she seeks the right boy to lose her virginity with.
