Biography[edit]

Ceremony of farewell to Mykola Mykytenko

Mykola Mykytenko was born in Kyiv. Studied at school No. 171. He had two higher educations: a lawyer and a history teacher.[1]

An activist of the 19th hundred of the Maidan Self-Defense Force was concussed by the explosion of a stun grenade. Participant of the Russian-Ukrainian war since 2014, sergeant, platoon commander of the 1st operational battalion named after Kulchytskyi, took part in the Siege of Sloviansk, where he was seriously injured: a landmine exploded under the Mykola's vehicle. In the hospital, he made an indelible impression on the 60-year-old Margarita Dovgan, who later wrote about him in the book "Hospital Notes" (2018): A strict warrior and a sunny man; she also mentioned him in an interview before her 90th birthday, in September 2020.[2]

After treatment, he returned to the front, served in various military units.[citation needed] However, due to poor health, he had to resign, received a disability group and went to the east as a volunteer, delivering the collected aid to the front.[3]

He died on October 14, 2020, and was buried in Zhytomyr region, next to his father's grave.[citation needed]
