He is the founder and director of the Sincine Film Festival, an independent platform dedicated to regional, short, and independent cinema.[6] [7][8]

His contributions to Maithili-language cinema and documentary filmmaking have been documented in books and media articles on the history of Maithili cinema.[9][10][11][12]

His short films Dark Night (2019) and Mukti Abhishap Se (2019) were screened at independent film festivals in India.[16]

In 2019, his short film NASA: The Error was announced for streaming on the digital platform Shivaay Originals.[17]

N. Mandal participated in the "Symposium on Maithili Cinema and Literature" organized by the Sahitya Akademi in Bihar on 30 September 2023.[18] N.
