NDTV Marathi is an Indian Marathi-language news channel owned by New Delhi Television Limited (NDTV). It was launched on 1 May 2024, coinciding with Maharashtra Day, and is the network's first non-Hindi regional channel.[1] The channel broadcasts to Maharashtra and is headquartered in Mumbai.
History
NDTV entered state-level broadcasting in 2023, following the acquisition of a controlling stake in the company by the Adani Group in 2022. Two Hindi-language regional channels, NDTV Madhya Pradesh–Chhattisgarh and NDTV Rajasthan, were launched in August and September 2023 respectively.[1] NDTV Marathi was the network's third regional launch and the first in a language other than Hindi.[2]
The channel was launched at an event in Mumbai attended by the then chief minister of Maharashtra, Eknath Shinde, and deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis.[2][1] The launch took place during the campaign for the 2024 Indian general election.
Programming
The channel carries news and current affairs programming focused on Maharashtra, including state politics, elections and regional reporting.[3]
