Nandan Vinayan (born 27 October 2005) also known by his stage name NNDN, is an Indian-born independent music composer, producer and songwriter.
Nandan composes and writes songs which are later sung by others and released on streaming platforms. He started gaining popularity in 2022 when he started releasing self-composed singles on various music streaming platforms like Spotify and Apple Music. [1] [2] [3]
Early life[edit]
Nandan was born in Kanhangad, Kerala on 27 October 2005. He moved to Bangalore in 2007 and is currently settled there. He studied in Mount Litera Zee School, Bangalore till 5th grade, following which he studied in Kendriya Vidyalaya ASC Centre till 12th grade.
As a boy, he had learnt to play a violin till he reached high school, following which he stopped pursuing it. He could also play the keyboard with great ease. He could play a song on the keyboard in a short span of time after listening to the song just once. He decided to produce music during the COVID-19 pandemic when the country was in a complete lockdown.
As a music composer[edit]
As a boy, Nandan used to play the violin and the keyboard and also used to sing at certain occasions. He started to take interest in music production during the COVID-19 outbreak when the entire country was in a lockdown and he was forced to sit idle at home. He started by making beats and uploading them on YouTube, which the audience appreciated. Later, when he started getting bored of making beats, he decided to start composing music using his keyboard. He composed a few tracks using just his keyboard by connecting it to his MacBook and released it on Spotify this time instead of YouTube as he thought that would gain him more traction. Initially, it helped him get more popular among the people but he realised that instrumentals were not the kind of music that the general audience needed. That was when he decided to make songs with vocals.
In 2021, he started to reach out to people all around the internet to find people who could lend their vocals to his songs. He used social media for this purpose. By late 2021, he had found a few people who were willing to do it and he started the process of songwriting and composing. Following this, he decided to remove all of his existing tracks from all the platforms as he thought he needed a fresh start.
In 2022, he released his debut single, titled No Regrets on all platforms. It was composed, written, arranged and produced by Nandan himself while it was sung by Jessica Kline. It released on 18 February, 2022 to highly positive response. It also attracted a whole new group of audience, which also gave a boost to his music.
His second release of 2022 was a Spanish pop track, titled Te Conozco, sung by Sean-Patrick Walsh. It released on 8 April, 2022 and was loved by the people even more than his debut single and it made him popular all over the world. Te Conozco stands as his most popular song to date.
His next release was titled Voices, sung by Samuel Victor Clines. It released on 3 June, 2022 and was lauded by his fans. Later, in August 2022, he released an electronic pop track, titled Words You Didn't Say, sung by Jane Young. It released on 12 August, 2022 was not as popular as his previous tracks but was still very popular among the people.
Nandan also released his first extended play, titled Champagne Dreams in the same year. The EP consisted of five tracks, all of which were sung by Shawn Kelley. Two tracks, namely the eponymous track and the track titled Dancing In The Clouds were highly popular and the audience liked the EP more as it was of R&B genre and was different from what Nandan had previously made.
Following the release of Champagne Dreams, Nandan has currently taken a short break from music.
