Life and career[edit]

Nadya was born in Rizal to a multi-racial Filipino family. She is the first child and first daughter of Lucio Tan, a Chinese-Indonesian Business Tycoon, and Venus Rahden, an Educator from the a business oriented family. Nadya, is a derivative of a sanskrit name "Adya" which means "The first; Mother Earth" Balinese. Her name also appeared in a vast array of languages with their own variations of the name and her mother added that since she was carrying Nadya in her womb while the Martial Law is in effect in the Philippines, she is preferential to the Russian meaning of Nadya whis in this case is "Hope".

Despite having strong Chinese/Indonesian roots, Nadya was sent to an International Catholic school in Rome, Italy to receive a better education. At the age of seven, Nadya began receiving highly disciplined instruction in business from her grandmother, who is considered the family's matriarch. On her free time, she trained daily, learning various vocal techniques hidden from her grandmother, who doesn't approve of her singing at the time. Instead of helping Nadya to succeed as a vocal artist, to help further develop her education in business, her grandmother uprooted several family members, including Nadya to expose them to one of the world's business capital, Xiamen, China where she was admitted to Xiamen University to gain experience in international business and commerce.
