Jacob Matthew Christensen (born December 28, 1994), better known online as NakeyJakey[1], is an American YouTuber and musician. He came to prominence for his unique Commentary, Comedy, and Music videos after creating his main YouTube channel in 2015. His main channel has 1.82 million subscribers,[lower-alpha 1] and 177.6 million views,[lower-alpha 2] as of January 2023.

Career

Christensen began his career on YouTube with comedy sketches and music.[2] He has since amassed nearly 2 million subscribers and 200 million total views.[3]

Christensen's work has been discussed by various news sites. In fall 2016, his video "The Death of Video Game Box Art" was covered by Gizmodo Australia.[4] It is part of a series of documentary-style essays by Christensen.

On January 3, 2019, Cultured Vultures ranked Christensen on a list of the "10 Best YouTube Channels To Subscribe To In 2019" in position number three.[5]

YouTube style

Christensen's videos are often commentary on everything from the Video game, Video game industry, Film, and general Internet culture media.[6]

He appears in most of his videos behind a green screen on a Exercise ball and incorporates various editing styles, with his decisions being copied by other creators.[7]

His criticism of Rockstar Games and their game Red Dead Redemption 2 in 2018 helped propel his channel to new heights.[8] The video currently sits at 10 million views and is his most viewed video to date.[9]

Music

Christensen is also known for his music by the name of "Jakey."[10]

On August 15, 2019, his music was reviewed by Ones to Watch's Maxamillion Polo as another artist that could have the potential to break into the Music industry as compared to Joji (musician).[11]

His debut album "ROMCOM" released on November 18, 2022 to great acclaim.[12]

Personal life

Christensen is dating Billie-Rae Grant.[13]

On April 1, 2018, Christensen uploaded a Vlog on his main channel that revealed more about his life outside of content creation.[14]
