Nalneesh Neel is an Indian actor who appears in Bollywood films. He is best known for his roles in Raees, Monsoon shootout, Action Jackson and III Smoking Barrels.[1].

Early Life and Education[edit]

Nalneesh Neel was born on 13th October, 1984 in his maternal home at village Miyanpur Sanwat, Banda in Shahjahanpur District of Uttar Pradesh. After completing his high school and intermediate education from Ram Dulari Inter College, Bisalpur, he acquired a B.A degree from Govt. P. G. Collage[2] Bisalpur, affiliated under Rohilkhand University, Bareilly.

Nalneesh Neel was interested in photography, singing, theatre and Martial Arts from a very young age and becoming an actor was his only dream. He wanted to sharpen his acting skill and went to Shahjahanapur as he came to know from a friend that famous Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav was doing theatres in Shahjahanpur.

On his journey to Shahjahanpur from Bisalpur, he met Coronation Art & Theatre head Zarif Malik Anand in his office. In the year 2003, he met his theatre Guru Dilip Anand also, who happens to be Rajpal Yadav's mentor too. Nalneesh Neel was active in Shahjahanpur Theatre from 2003 to 2008.

During this time, he opened theatre in Bisalpur with Dilip Anand’s help. With his guidance Nalneesh Neel prepared for Baharatendu Natya Academy admission test and finally left his Master’s Degree studies to join BNA in 2008.

After graduating in drama from BNA Nalneesh Neel was sent to pursue Film Appreciation Course from FTII[3] Pune in 2010.

Acting Career[edit]

During his stay at Pune Nalneesh Neel decided to try his luck in acting on screen. He shifted his base to Mumbai in and started doing small roles in Bollywood films. He has appeared in films like Monsoon Shootout, Raees, Action Jackson, Fukrey Returns, Shoodh Desi Romance, Sanju and many more. Nalneesh Neel’s work was appreciated by critic as a dumb guy in the multilingual film III Smoking Barrels[4][1]. He has played an important role in upcoming Bollywood film Manikarnika. Bhor[5], Chhichhore[6] are some of his upcoming ventures.

Besides acting on the big screen, Nalneesh Neel has worked on many short films like Ram Gopal Varma directed The Foreigner[7], award winning short film Achhe Din[8] and Umeed[9]

Naleesh Neel has worked in two popular ad campaigns on Indian economy Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, 5 rs ki maut[10] and The case video Must Go On[11]. He has also worked for television commercials like SAMCO[12] and Kissan Pipe[13] with Amitabh Bachchan.

Apart from doing films Nalneesh Neel regularly performs in theatre under his own production SRS Entertainment. He is currently performing in the 55 minute long solo paly Ek Haseena Paanch Diwane based on Harishankar Parsai’s story.

Personal Life[edit]

Nalneesh Neel belongs to a middle class family from a village in Uttar Pradesh.  He has one brother and two sisters. He spent most of his childhood at his maternal home in Miyanpur Banda and spent only few years with his parents in his own village Uganpur, Marrori. He shifted to Bisalpur and had to change school several times. He is very fond of music and loves to play guitar in his leisure time. Gymnastics has been his favourite sport since childhood and he still depends largely on it for his fitness.

Awards and Nominations[edit]

Nalneesh Neel won Critic’s Choice Best Actor (Male) for his role in Achchhe Din[8] at Acharya Tulsi Short Film Festival in Mumbai. The film was declared First Runner Up at the Large Short Film category in Mami Film Festival at Mumbai.
