Namaste Trump was a rally on February 24, 2020 in Ahmedabad, India. Sardar Patel Stadium in Ahmedabad hosted US President Donald Trump along with Indian Prime minister Narendra Modi.[1] The event, titled "Namaste Trump", was a response to the "Howdy Modi" event held in Houston, Texas in September, 2019.[2] Attendance of over 100,000 people was reported,[3] as high as 125,000.[4]
The event was organised in Ahmedabad, Gujarat on afternoon of February 24, 2020. It was the pinnacle of President Donald Trump’s visit to India. The event platform for the Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to show off their enthusiastically friendly relationship.[5]
The visit coincided with 2020 Delhi riots,[6][7] leading some politicians to allege rioters of attempting to tarnish country's image.[8]
