Early life[edit]

Born in Hamilton, Ontario, Richards lived in England when young. Eventually, Richards returned to Canada, where she lived in Toronto, Mississauga and Oakville. She attended and graduated from the University of Waterloo with a bachelor of arts in English language and literature and on a co-op program that brought her to CTV. Richards is married and has a son and daughter.

CTV News[edit]

Richards first joined CTV News in 1988 as a student intern; from there she worked as a script writer for various newscasts along with CTV National News, chief anchor and senior editor Lisa LaFlamme, who was a former script writer and news anchor with the station. Later, Richards was promoted to reporter, then news anchor at noon at CTV's Kitchener affiliate CKCO-DT. Richards co-anchors CTV News at Noon weekdays, keeping viewers up to date on the latest local, national and international news. The newscast features daily live interview segments with local personalities and news makers, including cooking demonstrations with chefs and food experts, gardening tips, grilling tips, fashion shows and helpful advice for pet owners.[1]

She hosted "THE BEAT", an entertainment newscast now entitled "THE SCENE". She hosted the Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest, an event and attraction that takes place every fall in downtown Kitchener.

From March 31, 2014 to June 2, 2016, Richards was providing local news updates for CTV's Canada AM[2]
