Napoleon Da Legend
Napoleon Da Legend is an American/French rapper and producer. He was born in Paris, France, and is of Comorian heritage. He currently lives in Brooklyn, NY.[1]
Napoleon is bilingual - he speaks English and French fluently.[2]
Early Life
Growing up in the Washington, D.C./Maryland area[3], Napoleon Da Legend traveled back and forth to shows, working a full-time job as a financial professional, and performing, before moving to Brooklyn, NY to begin pursuing music full-time.[4]
Napoleon was given his name playing basketball. His nickname came from his skill, stature, and brash style of trash talk while playing (after general Napoleon Bonaparte)[5]
Career
2013 - 16: Early career
In 2013, Napoleon released his debut album, Awakening, featuring Raekwon[6] and the late Sean Price. The “Wise Men” music video (featuring Sean Price), was released along with the album.[7] It was one of Sean Price's last appearances before his passing.
In 2014, Napoleon met Crazy DJ Bazarro of Beatminerz Radio. Napoleon became a frequent guest on Beatminerz Radio and subsequently joined DJ Bazarro’s hip-hop group, Da Dysfunkshunal Familee.[8]
2016 - 2018: Steal This Mixtape & More
In June 2016, Napoleon Da Legend released Steal This Mixtape.[9]
In February 2017, Napoleon went on his first official European tour with DJ Architeknic of Underground Luv, which included an appearance at the Hip-Opsession Festival in Paris, France and Stereolux in Nantes, France. The festival included The Beatnuts, Jeru Da Damaja, Oddisee, and Black Milk.[10]
In May 2017, he performed a freestyle on Sway in the Morning.[11] In July 2017, Napoleon performed at the Essence Festival.[12]
2018 - 2019: Appearances
In August 2019, Napoleon and rapper/producer Sicknature (of the Snowgoons) performed at the Hip-Hop Kemp festival in the Czech Republic (as Supa Kajiu).[13]
In September 2019, Napoleon was a guest on The Michael Brooks Show (TMBS) with Michael Brooks,[14] speaking on his music, Comorian heritage, and politics.
2019 - Present: More Projects and Collaborations
In March 2020, Napoleon released Afrostreet 2,[15] the second installment of his afrobeat/hip-hop series.
In October 2020, Napoleon released his anime inspired, self-produced project, Dragon Ball G, dedicated to the cartoon Dragon Ball Z.[16]
In September 2020, Akhenaton of IAM announced an upcoming collaborative project with Napoleon.[17]
In November 2021, Napoleon and Amerigo Gazaway released their collaborative album The World Changed , featuring Skyzoo Awon and La Bruja.[18]
