Narayan Joshi (Script error: The function "langx" does not exist.; born 29 January 2001) is a Nepalese cricketer who plays as an all-rounder for the Nepal national cricket team and Nepal A cricket team.[1] He is a right-handed lower-order batsman and a right-arm medium-fast bowler.[2] Joshi has represented various franchises in the Everest Premier League, Nepal T20 League, and the Nepal Premier League.

Early life and career

Joshi was born in Kailali, Nepal. He rose through the ranks of age-group cricket, representing Nepal at the U-16[3] and U-19 levels. He first gained prominence during the 2019 Manmohan Memorial National One-Day Cup and subsequently played for Sudurpashchim Province in the Prime Minister Cup.[1] His ability to swing the ball and provide late-innings cameos earned him a reputation as a promising bowling all-rounder in the domestic circuit.[4] He has been a regular feature in the Nepal A cricket team since its formalization in early 2024. He was included in the squad for the series against Ireland Wolves in March 2024, where he made his T20 debut in the third match of the series on 1 April 2024.[5]

ACC U16 Eastern Region Cricket Tournament

In December 2017, Joshi represented Nepal in the ACC U-16 Eastern Region Cricket Tournament held in Thailand.[6] He was a key all-round contributor, taking 5 wickets against Thailand and 4 wickets for 1 run against Myanmar in a 338-run victory.[7][8] He helped Nepal dominate the group stages, including key wins over Thailand and Myanmar, showcasing his potential as a bowling all-rounder.[9]

In the final against Singapore, Joshi scored an unbeaten 46 runs off 23 balls, including five fours and a six, contributing to Nepal’s total of 183/6. He also took 1 wicket for 23 runs as Nepal restricted Singapore to 112, winning the championship by 71 runs.[10][11] Joshi emerged as one of Nepal’s standout performers, finishing among the leading wicket-takers and contributing crucial runs in key matches, helping Nepal secure the title.[12][13]

Hong Kong Sixes

In November 2024, Joshi was selected for the Nepalese squad for the return of the Hong Kong Cricket Sixes.[14] In Nepal's opening match against England, he took the crucial wicket of England captain Ravi Bopara, caught by Sundeep Jora.[15] Nepal went on to win the match by 6 wickets, marking a historic victory in their inaugural appearance in the tournament.[16]

Franchise cricket

Joshi has played for several prominent franchises in Nepal's T20 leagues, including the Lalitpur Patriots[17] in the Everest Premier League and the Biratnagar Super Kings[18] in the Nepal T20 League.

In 2024, he was drafted by the Pokhara Avengers[19] for the inaugural edition of the Nepal Premier League (NPL).[20] Following the 2024 season, he signed with the Biratnagar Kings[21] for the 2025 NPL season.[22][23] During the 2025 season, he played a vital role in Biratnagar's campaign, notably contributing a quick 25 runs off 16 balls in a last-over victory against the Karnali Yaks.[24][25]
