Nasrin Afzali (Persian: نسرین افضلی, born 1978 in Tehran) is a women's studies researcher, feminist, and women's rights activist. She is a PhD student in sociology at Concordia University in Montreal. She was arrested in March 2007 for participating in a gathering of women activists. He has also been a visiting researcher at George Mason University since 2014. Afzali is a member of the Iranian Women's Web site, Meidaan (Square), and the editor of feminismeveryday website.[1] [2] [3] [4]

Afzali, who started as a student during the “political reform” (eslahat) period, became interested in working in the field of women after getting acquainted with feminist groups and received her master's degree in women studies from the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Tehran. She was arrested in front of the Revolutionary Court of Tehran on March 4, 2007, along with more than 30 activists of the Iranian women's movement who had gathered in support of Parvin Ardalan, Nooshin Ahmadi Khorasani, Susan Tahmasebi, Fariba Davoodi Mohajer, and Shahla Entesari. They were all released within a few days. Afzali was tried at first instance on charges of disturbing public order and sentenced to six months suspended imprisonment and ten lashes.[5][6][7]
