NateTheHate, real name Nate (born November 17[1]), is a video game podcaster[2] known for leaking information. Especially after the correct leak of the Nintendo Switch 2's announcement date in early 2025, he has been described by sources as a reliable insider, particularly for Nintendo Directs.[3][4][5][6][7]

Podcasting career

Nate started the NateTheHate podcast in 2019.[8] His Twitter account, used to promote the podcast and leak information, was also created in 2019.[9] In addition to YouTube, the episodes of the podcast are uploaded to Spotify and ITunes.[8] The podcast features people in addition to Nate; ModernVintageG is the co-host.[10][8] Episodes, in addition to leaks, feature speculation and predictions about video games.[11]

Leaks

Before 2025

Despite Nate beginning to receive most of his media attention in early 2025, he leaked prior to then. In January 2022, Nate claimed Persona 4 Golden would release on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch in 2022. He also claimed Persona 6 would be exclusive to the PlayStation 5.[12] Golden later released on PS4 and Switch in mid January 2023.[13] Persona 6 has yet to be officially announced as of February 2026. In January 2024, he reported that a Banjo-Kazooie game was greenlit in early 2022.[14] In February, he reported that it was being reworked.[15] By June 2025, he suspected it had been cancelled due to a lack of updates.[16] In August 2024, Nate reported that the then-Xbox-exclusive Indiana Jones and the Great Circle would release on PlayStation 5 in early 2025.[17][18] The title ended up releasing in April 2025.[19] In September 2024, Nate claimed that the Nintendo Switch 2 would be backwards compatible with the Nintendo Switch,[20] which was officially confirmed by Nintendo in November.[21]

2025

In mid January 2025, Nate reported that the Nintendo Switch 2 would be announced on January 16, 2025.[22][23][24] He additionally stated that a "software showcase" would air in either late February or early March.[24] IGN, following corroborations from other sources, stated that he was the first to claim it would be announced on January 16.[22] On January 16th, 2025, Nintendo released an announcement video for the Nintendo Switch 2, though the "software showcase", a special Nintendo Direct, was announced for April 2, 2025, contrasting Nate's earlier claims.[25]

In February, Nate teased a Sony State of Play for the month's Valentine's Day week,[5] which did end up occurring.[26] In March, he claimed that the then-unnanounced The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered would be announced in either March or April, and release prior to June.[27] He later stated that it would be announced and released in April, with a same-day announcement and release being "possible".[28] It was announced and released on April 22.[29] In late March, he claimed a "Nintendo presentation" would air on or around March 27th, which was just days before the confirmed April 2 Switch 2 Direct.[30] On March 27th, a Nintendo Direct aired.[31] In early April, he reported that the GameCube would be coming to Nintendo Switch Online,[32] which was confirmed on April 2.[33]

In June, he reported that Resident Evil 9 would be formally announced in the month's first week.[34] It was announced on June 6th at Summer Game Fest.[35] In mid July, he claimed a Nintendo Direct would air before the end of the month.[3][36] On July 31st, a Nintendo Direct: Partner Showcase aired.[37] In August, he reported that Starfield would release on Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026; this has yet to be confirmed.[6] In late August, following rumours of a September 12th Nintendo Direct by YouTuber SwitchForce, Nate claimed that one would air around September 11th or 12th;[38] a direct aired on the latter date.[39]

On September 16, Nate reported that a Sony State of Play would air during the next week;[40] one aired on September 24.[41] On November 17, he claimed that an Xbox Showcase would be announced "very soon";[42] an Xbox Partner Preview was announced later that day and aired on November 20.[43] Just before the Game Awards 2025 in December, he reported that the statue Geoff Keighley was using online as a teaser was pointing towards a new game by Larian Studios being announced.[7] At The Game Awards, Larian Studios announced a new Divinity game.[44]

2026

In January, Nate claimed that a Sony State of Play would air in February;[45] one aired on February 12.[46] In late January, he reported that a Nintendo Direct would air during the first week of February, speculating, but not leaking, that it would feature numerous smaller Nintendo IPs.[11] Days later, he posted an update claiming that the Direct would be a Partner Showcase, and that it would specifically air on February 5;[47] a Nintendo Direct: Partner Showcase then aired on February 5.[48]
