The NBL-US provides basketball players the opportunity to play professionally overseas within the NBL international network.The inaugural season of 2020 was played with four teams.
The NBL-US is partnered with other NBL affiliates around the world which include: Dubai, Israel, England, Philippines, Africa, Antigua, Bahamas, New Zealand, Australia, & Jamaica.[1]
The NBL-US launched its league on January 1, 2020, and begin to play on February 22, 2020. The East Houston United BC defeated the Baytown Bobcats 111–102. In the championship game, East Houston United faced off against the Marietta Rockets the winners of the American Conference.[2]
The United started the NBL-US season 5-0 before COVID-19 made the NBL-US postpone its season.
The NBL returned for the playoffs in August as the league moved the championship series to San Antonio, Texas. The United matched up against the Baytown Bobcats who defeated the Galveston Islanders in the first round.
The teams battled back and forth with the United coming up big in the second half to win the Inaugural NBL-US Championship 112–83. In 2021 the NBL-US added two conferences the National Conference ( East Houston United BC, Baytown Bobcats BC, Bexar County Bucs BC, New Orleans Blues BC) and the American Conference ( Fort Lauderdale Herd BC, Space Coast Stars BC, South Atlanta Showtyme BC, Marietta Rockets BC).[3] The NBL-US is the only USA Minor League with a direct partnership with an International League when the league signed a deal to be the official basketball partner of the NBL-Philippines.
