The National Centre for Animal Diseases (NCAD) exists in Lethbridge, Alberta as part of the research laboratory facilities of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency. Among other things, as part of the BSE Enhanced Surveillance Program, "all cattle samples that yield inconclusive results using the 'rapid test' are sent to the" NCAD for confirmatory testing.[1]
