National Youth Film Academy

The National Youth Film Academy was founded by Rob Earnshaw with a mission to locate, nurture and promote young film makers and actors.[1] It was founded in 2011 with its first course launching at the BFI Southbank and has since produced a strong reputation for supporting new talent in to apprenticeships [2], where a number of members worked on films such as Men In Black [3] Jack Ryan [4] entry film and acting jobs. Notable Alumni include Abubakar Salim [5] Ciara Baxendale, Olivia Chenery [6] Jaz Deol, Bhavnisha Parmar, Christoper Mulvin, Josh Merritt, Segun Akinola, Emily Cheung

Each year, the National Youth Film Academy runs interviews to select students on their SetReady Course where students get to write, shoot, produce and act in a film that is screened at the RainDance Film Festival

In 2019 the National Youth Film Academy announced a partnership with Europe’s leading digital cinematography facility, ProCam[7] and Raindance Film Festival [8]

Emerging Brits[edit]

Every 3 years the National Youth Film Academy runs an career support programme where they fund 3 short films which are screened at an industry screening at the ODEON BFI IMAX
