Naxatras is a hard psychedelic rock[1][2] band from Thessaloniki, Greece formed in 2012 by John Vagenas and John Kostandelias, fellow students at the Cinema Department of Fine Arts of Film School of Thessaloniki, and Kostandelias' childhood friend Kostas Harizanis.

The name Naxatras comes from a Hindu astrology term Nakshatra meaning a lunar mansion.[3]

The band's first self-titled album Naxatras was recorded by performing every song live in a period of 1 day in Magnetic Fidelity studios in their hometown of Thessaloniki, a tradition they followed since.[4][1] It was released on April 26th 2015.[5] It was well received and the band was compared to the likes of Om, Causa Sui[6]

Originally a three piece the band was joined by a multi instrumentalist Pantelis Kargas on keyboards and synths in 2020.[7]

The band toured extensively in Europe and Australia and performed at festivals like DesertFest, SonicBlast, Ozora and DunaJam.[8]

As of May 2023 the group has released 4 full length albums, 2 live albums, 1 EP and 1 single.

The artwork of all the albums and posters is done by Christopher Toumazatos a.k.a. Chris RW and features a variation of so called "Prophet".[9][1][10][11][12][13]
