Nels Mitchell
Nelson 'Nels' Mitchell is an American politician and former Democratic candidate for United States Senator from Idaho. He ran for the U.S. Senate in 2014 against incumbent Republican Jim Risch. He lost the election on November 4, 2014, finishing in 2nd place with 34.7% and 151,174 votes, behind incumbent Republican Jim Risch, who finished with 65.3% and 285,596 votes.[1]

For college, Mitchell attended the University of Idaho Law School and Columbia University.[2] For high school, Mitchell attended Boise High School[3]
Personal life[edit]
Mitchell has two grown daughters: Brianne is a practicing attorney; Brittany is a second-year law student. Mitchell remains extremely close to his two brothers and his 91-year-old mother, who still lives in Boise. He has established a scholarship at Boise High in memory of his father and in honor of his mother. Mitchell credits his parents and his grandparents with instilling the values of hard work and close family ties, and with teaching him to always stand on the side of fairness and justice.[4]
