Netro Electronics

Netro Electronics is a robotics, automation and electronics company in Zimbabwe, whose focus is to support students, experts and newbies with resources and skills for them to excel in their electronics, engineering and computer science projects. It supplies electronic components such as Arduino and Raspberry-Pi which are delivered through DHL all over Zimbabwe.[1]

Netro Electronics Zimbabwe was founded in May 2017 by Natasha Chitsike, Eugene Kudzai Jamu and Tatenda Makuvatsine.[1] It is registered as NetroLab Technologies but trades as Netro Electronics.It was registered as Private Business Corporation in November 2017, and it went bankrupt in November after an employee looted the company’s property, resulted in the company being closed between November and December. It was reopened in January 2018 and the company went on to attract a number of university partners including the University of Oxford which they supported with their Lab Hackathon competitions held in June 2018 in Harare.[2] Netro Electronics was among the panelist who attended Future of Technology in Africa Conference which was hosted by Junior Achievement Zimbabwe(JAZ) on the 24th of May 2018 at Prince Edwards school.[3] Started as an electronic component Supply Company, Netro later introduced services such as project support and tutorials.[4]

Headquarters and Offices[edit]

Netro Electronics Zimbabwe has two offices, the company's headquarters is at Cyrex Business Center,12th floor, Joina City, Harare (the capital city of Zimbabwe) and the other office is found at Haddon & Sly, shop 25, second floor, Bulawayo (Zimbabwe's second capital city). It operates in six(6) Zimbabwean cities, with agents at BUSE Bindura(BUSE),(Chinhoyi University of Technology) Chinhoyi ,(Midlands State University) Gweru ,(National University of Science and Technology and Bulawayo Polytechnic) in Bulawayo, (Kwekwe Polytechnic) Kwekwe, (Harare Institute of Technology and University of Zimbabwe) Harare. the second capital city of Zimbabwe (CBD, ) and head office is in Harare, the capital city of Zimbabwe.[1]

Products and Services[edit]

Netro Electronics supplies electronic components such as Motor DC, Transformers, Arduino Mini Kit, Arduino Nano and Raspberry-Pi to students in different technology and non-technology fields for them to build practical projects.[5] Netro Electronics sell its electronics and robotics components through online services and delivers products to clients’ doorsteps through DHL. Netro Electronics Zimbabwe provides assistance to students through project support and tutorials of programming (software) and electronics (hardware) that helps build practical solutions[6] to society problems.[7] The Company is running other services which includes:

  • Little Geeks – a program that engages kids (6 – 18years) with electronics, e-learning, programming, robotics and entrepreneurship
  • Kids in Tech – a media program for kids focusing on technology[1][8].
  • Product Development (2017) – a program which produces finished customized electromechanical devices, such as security, IoT (internet of things) and automated systems like automated irrigation system controlled by SMS, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Web-App or Android App)
  • Girls In Technology (2018) – program designed to promote the education and exposure of girls in technology[9].
