Neville Power
Neville Power is a former Australian mining executive and current chairman of Perth Airport as well as the Australian National COVID-19 Coordination Commission.
Early history
Neville Power was trained as a fitter and turner and diesel fitter for Mount Isa Mines Ltd in the mid-1970s before earning his mechanical engineering degree at the Darling Downs Institute of Advanced Education and becoming the mine's supply manager in the early 1990s.
In the late 1990s Power held a variety of managing roles in mining and steel interests.
Executive positions
Neville Power joined the construction company Thiess Pty Ltd as Chief Executive Australian Operations in 2007. He later gained national notoriety as the CEO and Managing Director of the Fortescue Metals Group, a position he held for seven years before taking on the chairmanship of Perth Airport.
In 2016 Neville was named WA Business Leader of the Year.[1]
He is currently the chair of the Australian National COVID-19 Coordination Commission, an eight-member strategic advisory body created by the Australian Government to manage the national economic and social response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
