Newland Payment Technology (also known as Newland NPT ) is a Chinese manufacturer of payment terminals, PIN pads, and point of sale (POS) hardware and software.[2][3][4] Headquartered in Fuzhou, Fujian in China, it is a subsidiary of Newland Digital Technology Co., Ltd.[5][6][7] Newland NPT was ranked the 2nd largest POS supplier worldwide in 2017[8] and the 3rd in 2021.[9] It is also the only Chinese company that ranks among the top five in the world in sales of information perception and identification equipment.[10]

Newland Payment Technology was founded in 1994 in Fuzhou, China.[11][12][7] Listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange in August 2000, the company became the first A-share listed company in Fujian Province in December 2005[12] In 2010 it launched the world's first two-dimensional code decoding chip - "China Chip", becoming the only enterprise in the country with independent core technology for two-dimensional code decoding.[10]
Newland became the third POS terminal supplier worldwide in 2016 after Ingenico and Verifone.[13] In 2017, the company overtook Verifone and became the second-largest POS terminal manufacturer in the world.[14][15] In the same year, the company produced the world's first full-touch screen smart POS (N910) that passed PIC 5.x security certification.[16] In December same year, the self-developed products of the company won the "Red Star Award", the highest design award in China for the fourth time.[17] In 2022, the company awarded the "National Industrial Design Center" at 5th China International Industrial Design Expo held in Wuhan.[18]
