Nick Forster (born May 16, 1955) is the founder and Executive Director of the non-profit, eTown.[1] He is also a member of the contemporary bluegrass band, Hot Rize.

Forster was born in Beirut while his father worked for The United States State Department.

In the mid-1970s, Forster's music career brought him to Colorado where he met Tim O'Brien, Pete Wernick and Charles Sawtelle. The three men would would then go on to form the band Hot Rize.[2]

In 1991, Hot Rize earned a Grammy nomination[3] and took home the Entertainer of the Year Award from the International Bluegrass Music Association.[4] After this, the band members collectively decided to pursue other projects.

Around this time, Forster came up with a concept of a radio show that would bring people together through music and also discuss important current events with a special emphasis on environmental issues. This concept was then put into motion and is now the radio variety program, eTown.[5]

eTown is a 501(c)(3) non-profit broadcast organization. Based in Boulder, Colorado, eTown is a nationally syndicated multimedia, podcasting and events production company. The eTown radio broadcast can be heard on National Public Radio, community radio stations, and commercial radio. The program has a variety show formats featuring live musical performances, interviews with musicians, authors, and other public figures.
