Nick Mattson (born October 25, 1991) is an American professional ice hockey defenseman who is currently playing under contract to the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League (AHL). Mattson was selected by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 6th round (180th overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.

Playing career[edit]

Mattson's earliest development began as a youth in the Chaska Chanhassen hockey Association of the CCHA. Mattson enrolled to the University of North Dakota of the NCAA's Division I, after playing in the USHL with the Indiana Ice where he was named the USHL's 2010–11 Defenseman of the Year.[1] and was also named to the 2010–11 USHL First All-Star Team.[2]

After his senior season with North Dakota, Mattson was signed to a one-year AHL contract with the Rockford IceHogs, an affiliate of the Chicago Blackhawks on June 16, 2015.[3]
