Nicolas Robinson,[lower-greek 2] also known as Nick Robinson or Babylonian, is an American YouTuber and gaming journalist best known for facing sexual harassment allegations during his career at the video game website Polygon in 2017, causing him to part ways from the website.[1]

Early life[edit]

Robinson formerly worked for the multi-channel Internet television network Revision3[2] and was an intern at the American gaming website Giant Bomb.[3][4]

Career[edit]

Polygon[edit]

During his time at Polygon, Robinson was best known for his collaborations with Griffin McElroy, hosting the series Car Boys, Touch the Skyrim, and the podcast Cool Games Inc. together.[5]

Following Robinson's criticism of the Nintendo Switch port of Overcooked, a former Polygon employee stated that she had been sexually harassed by Robinson through Twitter.[5] This caused numerous other females in the gaming industry to further back the claim by sharing their history with Robinson.[6] Robinson later made a statement about the accusations and apologized for his actions.[7] A few weeks after Robinson's apology, he returned to actively using Twitter,[8] which he was criticized for.[9]

After Robinson's sexual harassment allegations, Robinson was suspended from Polygon and was pending "a thorough Vox Media inquiry".[1] Robinson was later released from Polygon as announced by the senior vice president of the website, Chris Grant, in a now-deleted tweet.[1]

YouTube[edit]

Prior to joining Polygon as a video producer, Robinson had also uploaded a few videos to YouTube.[2] Robinson was criticized for his return to the gaming industry, with The Daily Dot's Ana Valens saying that the "warranted response" to his sexual harassment was never made.[9]

Personal life[edit]

Robinson's father is also named Nick[lower-greek 3] and his younger brother, Porter,[10] is a musician.
