Nicole Rifkin is a Canadian-American designer and illustrator currently residing in Baltimore, Maryland.

Early life and education

Rifkin was born in Canada, emigrated to the United States as a preteen, and later became influenced by the punk music scene of Gainesville, Florida.[1] They attended the Pratt Institute and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Illustration. Later, they attended the School of Visual Arts, earning a Master's Degree in Illustration.

Career

Nicole's work has been featured in The New Yorker, having created four covers: "Pride and Joy," "On the Corner,"[2] "Sun-Dappled,"[3] and "On the M Train."[4] Other illustration credits have included work for Politico,[5] an illustrated edition[6] of Irvine Welsh's Trainspotting, and several album artworks and show posters[7] for Water from Your Eyes, Jack White, Pavement, Death Cab for Cutie, among others.

Notably, Rifkin directed the music video for Pile's "The Birds Attacked My Hot Air Balloon."[8]
