Nilay Özkara (born 14 February 1976, Nazilli, Aydın), Turkish singer-songwriter.

Early life and career[edit]

Nilay Özkara was born in 1976 in Nazilli, Aydın, Turkey. As a good music listener, she discovered the joy of singing. Her career began as she started singing songs of Turkish jazz musicians and singers such as Birsen Tezer, Jehan Barbur ve Mehmet Güreli, followed by co-appearances on stage with Turkish singer Derin Sarıyer. She started writing and recording her own songs at her home studio. She wrote her first single "Uzaklara" after the passing of her beloved father Ayhan H. Özkara and the song was released on digital music platforms on the 14th of February, 2020. She released another single named "Uyanın" a couple of months later on the 31st of May, 2020. While producing her third single "Seninle", she met and worked with talented Turkish jazz musicians like Hakan Gürbüz, Ekin Cengizkan and sound engineers such as Orçun Ayata and Marcin Bociński. She's been working on her new songs at her home studio in Istanbul, Turkey.
