No Humanity is a 2-dimensional arcade and bullet hell game developed by Australian indie developer Sweaty Chair Studios. A prototype of the game was created in Global Game Jam 2015[3], then more features like multiplayer mode, different spaceship skins and worlds, was developed in later stage. It was due to release at the same year on iOS and Android.

Gameplay[edit]

The game has a very simple storyline: "It's the end of the world and you are the lone survivor in a tiny spaceship. Players need to get ready to dodge everything that is trying to kill you!" Like most of bullet hell games, players control a character and dodge the incoming bullets on the screen. There are also lasers and bosses in the game. The lasers blast for a very short period and also destroy the bullet, so that player can stay beside a laser as a shield to bullets. There are few bosses randomly appear in a map, each boss has its own pattern and move. Players have to remember the pattern so they can dodge the bosses.

There are few words in the games, each world has its own bosses and possible different bullets and lasers pattern:

  • Original
  • Ocean
  • Chinese (Chinese ink style)
  • Big Bang
  • Bullet Hell (Only bullets)
  • Laser Challenge (Only lasers)
  • Christmas (Christmas special)
  • All Stars (All bosses from other worlds)

Besides the default single-player mode, No Humanity also provides a multiplayer mode. 4 players against each other and try to stand as the last survived. There are bullets and lasers as in single-player, but no bosses. Instead, there's weapons randomly spawned on screen. Players can collect them and use it to kill another player.

Release and Exposure[edit]

No Humanity officially released in late 2015, then was first featured by Apple App Store on 17 Feb 2016, and has taken #3 iOS Game in Australia and New Zealand and Top 100 iOS Game in 23 countries.[4] Another early download boost is from a gameplay video made by popular Germany Youtuber LUCA. [5] It also gained plenty of attention and featured in many popular gaming news sites such as Mashable[6] and Chinese Tap Tap.[7]
