Noriko M. Akatsuka

Noriko M. Akatsuka (1937-2016) was a professor of Japanese and Japanese linguistics at the University of Chicago. She moved to UCLA in 1981. According to Susan Strauss, Akatsuka was consulting editor for Linguistics for nearly two decades.

Akatsuka was responsible for establishing the foundation for the Asian Linguistics Program in the UCLA Department for Asian Languages and Cultures. In 1995, she received the Harriet and Charles Luckman Distinguished teaching award. Script error: No such module "AfC submission catcheck".
