North-South Dedicated Freight Sub-Corridor
North-South Dedicated Freight Sub-Corridor is a freight specific railway under construction in Central to eastern India by the Indian Railways. The railway will run between Itarsi in Madhya Pradesh and Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh. This freight corridor will cover a total distance of 975 km. The DFC will also pass through Nagpur in Maharashtra.[1] Like other newly-developed DFC corridors, the top speed is expected to be capped at 100 km/h. The Indian Railways’ draft National Rail Plan (NRP), presented in February 2021, aims to implement the Delhi-Nagpur corridor in four phases by 2024-25. The draft also aims to establish a continuation of the corridor further south in order to reach Vijayawada.[2]
