The Northwestern Michigan Fair is a fair held annually in Blair Township, Michigan, about 8 miles (13 km) south of Traverse City.[1] The fair includes amusement rides, exhibits of farm animals, and live entertainment.

History

The first official Northwestern Michigan Fair, then known as the Grand Traverse Region Fair, took place from September 28 to October 2, 1908. The fair originally took place at the current site of Thirlby Field in Traverse City, before moving to the present-day Grand Traverse County Civic Center in 1912. In 1924, the fair was renamed to the Northwestern Michigan Fair.[2]

In 1975, the fair relocated from within Traverse City to its current location in Blair Township, near Grawn east of M-37, on property purchased from Consumers Energy.[2]
