Negar Hamidzadeh (born February 28, 1997), better known as her stage name Nostalgix, is a Canadian DJ, singer and record producer.[1]
Biography[edit]
Born in the Islamic Republic of Iran, Nostalgix left for Canada when she was still a child.[2] In her final year of high school, Nostalgix went to her first electronic music show, and things would never be the same. It was an outlet that befriended her and forged the passion until 2015, when she was truly inspired by Dr. Fresch DJ set at Life in Color in Vancouver.[3]
A year after that, while still coursing Film Production, she bought a mixer and began teaching herself how to DJ in her dorm room at the University of British Columbia, eventually landing a gig at a pub on campus. With time, she started playing larger venues and festivals in Vancouver, which inspired her to start writing her own music.[4]
Nostalgix is pushing boundaries in the house scene, the Vancouver-based artist has sign on renowned imprints, such as Steve Aoki’s Dim Mak, AC Slater's Night Bass, Tchami’s CONFESSION Label and Insomniac Records’ In/Rotation.[5][6] The self-taught tastemaker was even hand selected by BIJOU to be the premier on his new label Do Not Duplicate Records, and she was featured in DJ Mag's "12 Emerging Artists".[7]
She is currently holding the 8th best female DJ and producer position in Canada, according to DJane Magazine.[8]
