The Nous Foundation (French: Fondation Nous) or Nous is a nonprofit cultural institute based in New Orleans, Louisiana. Nous's goals are to revitalize Louisiana's minority French and Creole languages and organize exchanges with other Francophone regions and countries, notably in culture, education, and economics.[1][2] The organization is headquartered at 906 Royal Street in the French Quarter, also known as the Vieux Carré. Nous is located in the historic Miltenberger house, where Alice Heine, the American-born Princess consort of Monaco, was born in 1857.[3]

History[edit]

Through an initiative launched by Scott Tilton and Rudy Bazenet, Nous's cofounders, Louisiana became the first U.S. state to join the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie in October 2018.[4][5][6] Nous was subsequently started in June 2020 and primarily works on projects that revitalize Louisiana French and Louisiana Creole.[7][8] In September 2020, Nous became a founding member of the Réseau International des Maisons des Francophonies (RIMF), a global network of Francophone cultural institutes.[9][10]
