Novikov Sergey (Russian: Новиков Сергей Сергеевич); (born July 9, 1987, Leningrad) is a Chief production designer of the Omsk State Musical Theater, Theatre award winner "Golden Sofit" for "The best designer work".

Biography[edit]

Born in Leningrad. He studied at the Imperial Academy of Arts and Russian State Institute of Performing Arts.

Novikov Sergey was born in St. Petersburg. At the age of 5, he began studying arts. He took an active part in children's art exhibitions in St. Petersburg, in other cities of Russia and worldwide.

He entered the Art and Aesthetic Lyceum at the St. Petersburg Art and Industry Academy. Simultaneously with studying at the Lyceum, he attended evening drawing classes at the St. Petersburg Repin Academy of Arts. After graduating from the Lyceum, he entered the auditorium at the St. Petersburg Repin Academy of Arts. After studying a year at the academy, he entered the Russian State Institute of Performing Arts. He graduated as a theatre-designer and started to work at various Russian musical theatres.

Career[edit]

At the age of 23, he started to work as a Chief production designer in the State Musical Theater in Omsk. His projects include:

Sergey Novikov is referred to as "a young, advanced artist”. His scenery and costumes “surprise and delight. They are so colourful and airy that they make one believe in the burning flight of the Firebird, because of the lightness of the horses, the grace and swiftness of the skate-hunchback. And even in the magic!"[8]

Critics point out that in terms of recreating the spirit of the times, artist Sergey Novikov always does his best.[9]
