nuEra Cannabis (stylized as nuEra; formerly NuMed) is a cannabis company based in Illinois.[1] The company began as NuMed in 2016 and rebranded to nuEra in 2020. In 2023, Crain’s Chicago Business reported nuEra’s plan to acquire cultivator Ieso, and in February 2024, trade coverage reported the closing of the acquisition, positioning nuEra as a vertically integrated operator in the state.[2]
History
The company traces its roots to NuMed, which opened dispensaries in Illinois’ medical program and rebranded to nuEra in 2020.[1] In May 2023, Crain’s reported nuEra’s plan to acquire cultivator Ieso; by February 2024, the trade press noted the closing of the acquisition and described nuEra as vertically integrated.[2][3]
Operations
nuEra operates multiple retail dispensaries in Illinois. Local coverage includes the DeKalb grand-opening event in May 2024, attended by former Chicago Bears quarterback Jim McMahon, and prior reporting on other openings in the state.[4][5]
Products and collaborations
In November 2024, Eater Chicago reported the launch of a THC-infused giardiniera created by J.P. Graziano in collaboration with nuEra.[6] Axios Chicago later covered and taste-tested the product.[7][8] In August 2025, Time Out Chicago reported a limited-time re-release of the collaboration and noted that the initial 2024 drop sold out quickly.[9]

At the 2023 High Times Cannabis Cup Illinois (People’s Choice), nuEra’s Cobra Milk won 1st place – Indica Flower, and Pink Lemonade Live Resin Gummies won 2nd place – Edibles (Gummies & Fruit Chews).[14] In reader polls, nuEra Chicago placed in the Chicago Reader’s Best of Chicago cannabis lists.[16][17]
