Years active2014–present[1]

Nurgul Jones (also known as N3rgul)[2] is a multigenre dark ambient producer based in Toronto, Canada,[3][4] specializing in witch house,[5][6] vaporwave[7] slime punk, and industrial music. Jones' origin can be traced to the rise of witch house music in the early 2010s with his album Rave Leviathan, released while living in South Korea.[8] The album was described as "darker, oozier, and meant to convey a theme of nihilism overall. Pieces of it move from slow depression heavy themes into fast paced and aggressive riffs. It's a cornerstone of the Witch House movement."[9] Jones' music attempts to push transgressions, in often seemingly schizophrenic ways.[3] Jones further rose to prominence in 2014 as one of the progenitors of the slime punk genre with his album Slime City (stylised §L¡MΣ ℭ¡†Y), utilizing an acid-techno approach and creating a framework for the Slime Punk genre via his use of skewed song titles, references to Nickelodeon, Slime Time Live, Mountain Dew, and the Ghostbusters.[10][11]

In addition to experimental electronic music, Jones also creates black metal music with his band "Vāmācāra", industiral hip hop with his group "Plebs & Fuckboys", and industrial metal with his group "The Death Cartel".[12]

Co)))trane[edit]

In 2016 Nurgul Jones released critical acclaim for his dark jazz album Co)))trane,[13] later to be utilized by the band Sun O))) for future musical tours.[14][15][16][17]
