Nurlan Bizakov (Kazakh: Бизақов Нұрлан Сейдінұлы; born on February 23rd, 1964[1]) is a Kazakhstani businessman. He made his fortune in a diverse range of business activities.[2]. He is the sole owner of Sumbe SAS[2], which owns and operates several renowned horse studs in England and France[3].

Early Life[edit]

Nurlan Bizakov was born in the to Seydin Bizakov and Kuldariha Mustagulova[1]. His father holds a DSc in Philology[4] and has authored over 20 scientific works[5].

Nurlan Bizakov is a graduate of the Kazakh Polytechnical University[2].

Career[edit]

Throughout his life, Bizakov has held many titles of importance, including[6]:

• Member of the board of Directors of Kazkommertsbank[7];

• Chairman of the Management Board of the Skymkent Oil Refinery[8];

• Chairman of the Management Board of Kazphosphate, LLP[9];

• Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sumbe, Joint Stock Company[10].

• Director at Hesmonds Stud Limited, UK[2].

• Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sumbe SAS, France[2].

At the moment, Bizakov predominantly deals in horse racing[2].

Racing[edit]

Nurlan Bizakov has been a longtime lover of horseracing. In late 2010, he purchased Hesmonds Stud Limited in the county of Sussex, United Kingdom, beginning his dive as a major player in the industry[11].

In 2019, Nurlan Bizakov purchased Haras de Montfort & Préaux in Normandy, France, home to the stallion Le Havre, a great champion and sire to 50 stakes winners[12].

In 2019, Nurlan Bizakov followed this purchase with the acquisition of Haras du Mézeray in the Orne department of Normandy, which foaled and raised two Arc de Triomphe winners – Trempolino and Subotica, as well as many other Group 1 winners[13]. Together, they are united under the name of Sumbe[14].

A pure product of Sumbe, the racehorse Belbek has gone on to win the stallion-making Group 1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere in 2022[15].

In 2023, Sumbe signed a 5-year contract to sponsor the famous Prix Morny in Deauville[16].

In 2024, Sumbe now boasts a total of 5 stallions – Mishriff, Belbek, Angel Bleu, Golden Horde and De Treville[17]
