Nuur Muhammad Bhutia, also known as Norbu Wangdi Bhutia, was born in Kolkata on 5 March. His father, Sri Dawa Lama, was the president of a Buddhist monastery in Chakraberia Lane, Kolkata. The monastery is known as Karma Gon Kidu. After completing his ICSE from Albany Hall public school in 1994, he went to Taiwan to help his family and learn martial arts. He also worked as a chef in an Italian restaurant in Taipei (Taiwan ROC). Being from a striking background, Norbu soon impressed his friends with his kickboxing and Muay Thai skills. But when one of his Taiwanese friends introduced BJJ to him, he was quite happy to learn this new skill. He further travelled to Japan, Macau, and Thailand and trained with many instructors in Taiwan. He learned not only the physical skills but also the spiritual and meditative aspects of martial arts.
QSC:
Once he returned to India after seven years abroad, he became fascinated with the study of comparative religion. He started practicing Islam and learned it under the supervision of Ustad Md. Maroof Salafi. He founded QSC, Quran Sunnah Center, an organization that stands against terrorism and promotes peace by spreading the true methodology of Islam. Since most of the members of QSC are people who started practicing Islam after converting from different castes and sects, they can understand both sides of arguments and strive to prove that it is people without knowledge of Islam who commit cowardly acts of harming innocent people. They can be brainwashed by so-called mullahs who want to fulfill their own desires in the name of religion. He also performed the imamat of daily prayers and gave a khutbah for Friday prayers from the pulpit of the Jama Masjid of No. 1 Marquis Lane in Kolkata under the supervision of his teacher Md. Maroof Salafi. Norbu has a nickname of Dada.
Taponomics :
To teach and promote MMA in Kolkata, he started giving classes to his gym buddies at Balak Sangha Bayam Sanity in 2003. From there he went to Abs gym and then to Atma Shakti Bayam Sanity in Linton Street, Kolkata. There he formed Taponomics[2] in 2012. He opened his own gym at 84, Topsia Road and named it Taponomics. Kolkata saw its first professional MMA fights and tournaments when he helped Ratul Mukherjee, president of the combat sports association, to organize championships at the Kolkata Judo Club. His way of teaching martial arts became very popular among the youth, and Taponomics slowly started to flourish as more and more gyms, schools, and colleges wanted Taponomics to help them with mixed martial arts and fitness.
Right To Fight:
He was the showrunner of a TV show called Right to Fight, a salute to women's empowerment. This was the first time that martial artists of Kolkata were fighting in a tournament that would be televised on R Plus, one of the top four Bengali news channels in India. A few months after their show Right to Fight, trailers for the movie Brothers hit the screen, and the name of the tournament in that movie was R2F (Right To Fight). This was a lucky sign for Norbu from a business point of view. Now many people want to show their martial arts talents, and auditions are underway for Right to Fight. His book Taponomics Defense Manual is taught as a diploma syllabus in gyms and schools. Another of his books, a thriller called Sarfaraz, secret of the abragwala, is supposed to be launched during the Pujas this year.
